Racing Animal Welfare and Integrity Board (RAWIB)

The RAWIB is established under the Racing Act 2002 to monitor, advise and make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer of the Department regarding:

policies of control bodies in relation to the welfare of licensed animals and other matters;
performance of functions and exercise of powers by integrity officers;
quality and range of services for drug control and associated services provided by accredited or secondary facilities;
the way things for analysis are taken or dealt with, and the way in which accredited facilities analyse things; and
other matters considered appropriate by the RAWIB or referred by the Chief Executive Officer.

The Procedures about the way things for analysis are to be taken and dealt with (Version 2) (PDF 880 K) have been developed by the Racing Animal Welfare and Integrity Board under section 115 (3) (b) of the Racing Act 2002 and are effective from 28 April 2005 until 29 February 2008.

The Collection Procedures (Version 3) (PDF 640 K) will be effective from 1 March 2008 and will replace Version 2 of the Procedures.
