The Q Investigations

Following the abandonment of the 2025 Brisbane Cup — Queensland’s premier greyhound racing event — the Queensland Government commissioned two independent investigations to understand what occurred and ensure confidence in the integrity of the sport.

The first investigation examined the circumstances leading up to the Brisbane Cup’s abandonment at The Q Racetrack on 5 July 2025. The second investigation reviewed the design and construction of the Q2 Parklands Track at The Q.

The investigations reinforced the importance of strong governance, effective communication, thorough training and accurate record-keeping in all aspects of track design, construction and preparation.

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission, Racing Queensland and the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club will continue to prioritise animal welfare as they implement the recommendations from these investigations, ensuring The Q’s facilities and operations support the best outcomes for the greyhound racing community.
